What up doe?! If you're reading this, welcome to my blog. My name is D'Andre Walker. Out and about you'll hear most people call me "Dre", "Walk", or "Texas" (that's only for some of my California people).
Way back in October 2011 I was a clean faced freshman at Ferris State University. One of the homies had an older brother who was pretty popular on campus. We would spend almost all of our free time, especially the weekends at his apartment. After one night, of playing cards and chilling, the living room was crowded with people laid out on the floor and couches. It was about 4 in the morning when I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep.
On the huge TV was a movie that I would have never watched otherwise. It was called “No Country for Old Men”. The villain running around with a silenced shotgun, shooting anything that moved, pulled me in instantly. After finishing it, that movie became one of my all time favorites and led me to the author who wrote the book the movie was based on, Cormac McCarthy.
Cormac McCarthy wrote a book in the 80s called Blood Meridian that would alter my life path. The book had an amount of gore and violence that made me uncomfortable at times, but the wording, structure and descriptions somehow made it all so beautiful. As soon as I finished, I knew I wanted to write books.
Well, eight years later, here I am with my first book coming out. I am a lot more comfortable verbally talking about things. However, I am doing my best to avoid making a podcast right now, so I decided that a blog is the next best thing. On this blog I plan on talking about anything from my books, to publishing, to boxing, to social issues. I hope that I can give/receive some good information, as well as start some interesting conversation topics.
